No, it’s not a typo.
If you have spent any amount of time living a life on this planet, then you’ve experienced grief and mourning. We all have loved and lost any number of things, from homes and jobs to pets, friends and family members. The amount of time spent mourning for those losses varies with the severity of the loss, and also from person to person, but mourning itself is a very human thing we all experience.
What we don’t appreciate is that in order to move forward in our life journeys, and especially in our spiritual journeys, we absolutely have to go through a phase of mourning.
We have to recognize that part of who and what we currently are has to be left behind, technically die, in order for us to become the person we want to be in the future. We have to overcome the fear of not knowing exactly what the new person we are becoming will be like, and accept that no matter what, we will still be ourselves at our core, and that we’re leaving some of what we were behind in order for that new person to become better and more suited to the new life we aspire to.
So even thought it may seem painful at the time, mourning is good, because it helps us to know that we accept that our old life has expired, and our new one is here to be lived.
